Anna has everything you would want in a kosher kitchen designer: a lifelong love and understanding of cooking kosher food and a penchant for great design. Her interest and appreciation of good design stems from her grandfather FAIA architect, Sidney Eisenshtat. Anna visited many projects with her grandfather while growing up and got quite a sense of what was good design and what wasn’t. Her love of food and cooking was cemented when she met Claude Bouly, her harp professor at Brandeis, who introduced her to French cooking. Her love of that cuisine and many others only grew from there. She cooks almost every day for her family and shops whenever possible at local greenmarkets. Prior to launching Higher Level Design, she founded Kulinary Adventures, which offered high end luxury kosher culinary tours in the New York city area. Anna also teaches private cooking classes for individuals and small groups. Additionally, she writes a biweekly food newsletter with recipes and tips. As someone who who loves food and cooks on a daily basis as well as hosts Shabbat/holiday meals she understands the needs and wish list of the kosher cook who wants the kitchen of their dreams and can help make that a reality. In renovating her own kitchen, Anna looked high and low for a kitchen designer who could provide a thoughtful, intelligent and efficient design for her home kitchen and who would work with her to accommodate all the needs of kashrut. After much research and interviewing of many different companies, she hired Pete Walker of Proximity Kitchen Systems who more than fulfilled her dreams. Anna and Pete worked hand in hand to create her kitchen using the Proxmity Kitchen System principles of design and efficiency while also satisfying all the wants and requirements of a kosher kitchen user. After a very successful partnership in building Anna’s kitchen, Anna and Pete decided to share their combination of a love of food and cooking and thoughtful and functional kosher kitchen design with others.
