Higher Level Design is unique in that we really get design and function while also understanding and appreciating all the halachic requirements of a kosher kitchen.  Many designer kitchens look beautiful but end up being not so user friendly. In addition to being expert in functional kitchen design , we have an extensive understanding of the issues that come up in creating a kosher kitchen. 

Higher Level Design functions as the New York/East Coast dealer of the Proxmity Kitchen System for kosher (and non kosher) kitchens.  In addition to maintaining a showroom with a full working Proximity Kitchen System, we work directly with PKS to ensure that all your personal and halachic needs in planning a kosher kitchen are incorporated into the final design. Principal design work of your kitchen plan will be done by Proximity Kitchen System in consultation with Higher Level Design. On your kitchen design project, you will be working with Pete and Anna to create your ideal kitchen. From knowing how many dishwashers you’ll want to have, to countertop material selection that is easy to kasher, to wanting appliances with a Shabbat/Yom Tov mode, to making sure you have enough storage for your Dairy, Meat, Pareve, and Pesach dishes and shabbos china-we know what the issues are that are important to you. We are up to date with all the latest trends in the kosher kitchen world and can help guide you in purchasing what you need.

• Kitchen Remodel

Our kitchen design service in conjunction with Proximity Kitchen System is recommended for those who want to do a gut renovation of their kitchen. With kitchen design services, we will come into your home and recommend an overall layout that will make best use of the space and be as cost effective as possible. If your renovation involves any structural changes, we will work in conjunction with your architect to incorporate the kitchen design into the total house redesign. At the end of working with us, you will have a kitchen design schematic document that you will be able to hand to a contractor or any vendors in order to procure your dream kitchen. 

• Kitchen Refresh

   Our kitchen refresh service is for those who would like to update their kitchens but not do a full gut renovation. We can help you modernize your cabinetry, advice on appliances, countertops, floors, lighting and sinks, hardware. In short, we can help your kitchen feel brand new.

• White Glove Design service 

There are many design choices that need to be made in order to have the kitchen of your dreams. It can be quite overwhelming when faced with all that needs to be done in order to complete your kitchen. Once you have told us your preferences, we are happy to suggest great options via an online sharing forum where we can post pictures and share ideas. Additionally, we are happy to arrange and accompany you to appointments with different vendors (kitchen cabinet, appliance,countertops,sinks,lighting,flooring) to make decisions on what will be best for you.

• Checklist/Schematic

 All jobs will include a checklist for clients on major tasks that need to be done in a kitchen remodel as well as a timeline. Additionally, a final schematic of your future kitchen will be given to you. Once you have this, you will be able to hand it off to any contractor or cabinet company to get pricing on your job. We are also happy to recommend vendors who we have worked with and were happy with their work.

Having an independent kitchen designer in the picture, all your design and cabinet needs are taken into account.  We do what’s best for you, not what’s easiest to manufacture, like a cabinet company.  When you receive a finished design from us you can shop around and find what cabinets and style you like that fit your budget.  The advantage to having a plan done independently is that it allows you the best of all worlds. It lets you have a kitchen design plan that was fully designed to be as pleasurable to use and functional as possible with all your needs in mind while taking into account your space and budget. For example-you may have a modest budget and want to design a kitchen using IKEA cabinetry, or you may have a limitless budget and would prefer a high end European designer (Siematic,Poggenpohl,etc) cabinetry. In either event, as long as we have an idea of the type of cabinetry you want, (IKEA or custom) your kitchen will be designed so that you can then take that drawing to a cabinet maker and get bids on cabinets from whomever you choose.  The design finishes are up to you, low end or high end. No matter what you pick, a design from us will ensure that you get a highly enjoyable and functional kosher kitchen. 

Looks can be deceiving! Our Long Island showroom kitchen was designed with all the shelving and drawers coming from IKEA and the doors were all custom made. You can in fact get the high end functionality without the high price.  Whether you decide your budget is all IKEA or custom made, the functionality of your kitchen will be the same.  We can help everyone design a kitchen that works beautifully, regardless of the budget you have to spend on the finishings. It’s all about balance between knowing where you can save money but still have high quality and where it makes sense to splurge and get what you want.

Once we know the scope of the project, we are happy to provide pricing for our services. The pricing will vary depending on whether you do a total gut renovation or a kitchen refresh.
